Information for Cruisers, Boaters, and Harbour Rats.
No matter what you call yourself (or what we call you 😊) you are an important part of our culture, history, and economy. You also play a very unique role in our recovery. You are self contained. You bring your own beds, toilets, food, electricity, tools, and rum.
You are also a helpful group who can fix anything from a diesel engine to a water maker.
You are the first visitors we can welcome. We are ready for you.

Before you arrive there a few things you need to know:
- We are in a recovery. There is debris to clean up. Only a few places are open for business but the ocean is still beautiful, the beaches are still magnificent, and the lobster is still delicious.
- Please ensure you have a recent tetanus shot and please get the flu shot before you arrive.
- Fuel is scarce. You’ll want to top off, bring extra, and use sparingly the fuel from your last port (most likely Florida).
- Water is available dockside at Hope Town Inn and Marina. It may also be possible to fill on land with jerry cans. Bring some water containers. All of that said, having a water maker onboard will be your best bet while cruising the Abaco this season . If you don’t have one maybe arrange to buddy boat with someone who does and is willing to share.
- Bring spare parts for everything. Getting things you need isn’t as easy as it has been in the past. It’s best to come prepared with that extra water pump o-ring, impeller, and extra oil for an oil change.
- Groceries will be limited on Elbow Cay. Maxwell’s in Marsh Harbour is open. Harbour View and LVA here on Elbow Cay have limited items. It’s best to provision well and anything you can get locally will just be icing on the cake.
- Most moorings have survived the storm. While we can’t say ALL moorings are 100% ok (we never could) a lot of the moorings have been checked by their owners and are in good shape. Please consider taking up a mooring instead of anchoring while you are here. It is MUCH needed income for our local businesses.
- We are working on getting a floating dinghy dock as our other dinghy dock sustained damage and needs to be rebuilt. If all goes well it will be installed directly in front of the library.
- Propane is available in Marsh Harbour at Abaco gas. It's on Don Mac Kay blvd near pine woods grocery.
- Hope Town Inn and Marina is open with:
- Limited dock space.
- Limited dock side power (a generator on a schedule).
- Dockside water is available.
- Mooring balls.
- Pool is open! (wow!)
- Showers and bathroom facilities available.
- The restaurant is expected to open in early-to-mid December.
- Cruiser's Net (AKA As the lighthouse turns) - is being hosted each morning on channel 68.
